Albert J. Bischoff, S.J. (’49, M.Ed. ‘58) inspired generations of Xavier students and faculty over the course of his many years of service to the University.
Affectionally known as ‘Father B,’ Bichoff spent nearly five decades as a beloved mentor, minister and friend to generations of Xavier students. He served as Emeritus Campus Minister for the Dorothy Day Center for Faith and Justice. He also served as a minister for Bellarmine Chapel, where he presided over daily and student Masses. He passed away in 2025 at the age of 98.
In 2003, a group of alumni from the Classes of 1969-1974 endowed a scholarship in honor of Father B for his 75th birthday. Each year, the Albert J. Bischoff, S.J. Scholarship provides vital support to a student with financial need, ensuring that Father B’s spirit of compassion and presence continues to shape campus life for years to come.
